Law Clerk & Extern Program
The Blount County District Attorney’s Office is committed to allowing law students to work closely with our Assistant District Attorneys through both externship and law clerk positions within the office. Duties of both positions include preparing discovery and trial exhibits, research and memo writing, and attending and assisting with all types of criminal court proceedings.
Externs are selected and placed by their school and receive school credit for working with our office.
Law clerk positions are for students who have completed their second year of law school and are paid positions. Those selected as law clerks will be expected to be eligible to apply for their third-year practice card. Once the practice card has been received, the law clerk will be allowed to assist with misdemeanor bench trials.
To apply for any available law clerk positions, please send a copy of your resume and a writing sample and three references to District Attorney Pamela L. Casey (frontdesk@blountcountyda.com).
