The Southern Power Legal department supports functional departments with day-to-day management of legal issues and coordinates compliance in unregulated business subsidiaries. The Project Risk and Contract Compliance (“PRM”) team works in close collaboration with functional departments to ensure contract obligations are met, by identifying and mitigating risks associated with our project contracts.  This collaborative internship program will provide hands-on experience to talented individuals interested in careers in compliance and legal. 

Program Requirements

  • Pursuing a juris doctor degree; 3rd year or second semester 2nd year law student
  • Currently enrolled full-time and in good standing
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Available for the duration of internship
  • Availability to work 20 hours per week

Job Summary

The program will include the following areas of duties: perform review of project contracts to identify and extract obligations for tracking; summarize identified obligations in layman’s terms for inclusion in tracking tool; review Non-Disclosure Agreements; assist with ensuring all critical documents are housed and properly catalogued in SharePoint; and perform ad hoc assignments that may come up from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills (Both verbal and written)
  • Computer literate; proven proficiency in MSOffice applications
  • Knowledge of SharePoint is a plus
  • Ability to multitask, supporting multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to analyze data
