Our well-established criminal defense law firm, comprised of four experienced attorneys, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented full-time Paralegal to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and electronically filing pleadings related to pre-trial litigation and the trial of criminal defense cases. The successful candidate will also assist the lawyers in managing referral sources and referred cases, as well as ongoing law practice-related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft criminal defense pleadings using templates and samples from the firm’s prior electronic case files. Researching legal issues related to ongoing criminal defense cases.
- Answer incoming calls, route them to the appropriate attorney or staff member, and input information into the firm’s client lead and client information systems.
- Assist the attorneys with calendaring, scheduling, and various administrative and project-based tasks.
- Provide occasional support on small personal injury matters, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in a related role within a law firm environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and other law practice management software. Experience doing legal research using Westlaw.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with handling small personal injury cases.
- Prior experience supporting attorneys with project management and scheduling.
