Domestic Violence Prosecutor
Responsibilities
- Establishes & maintains case files
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Conducts initial interviews and legal consultations
- Prosecutes domestic violence homicide and domestic violence assault cases (Bench & Jury Trials)
- Conducts legal research; drafts letters and other pleadings; Provides victims with updates, including assistance with PFA Petitions
- Provides legal advice to multidisciplinary teams & law enforcement agencies during investigations
- Assist with establishing or enhancing policy and procedures regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking
- Maintain accurate statistics to ensure grant reports are complete.
- Ability to demonstrate excellence in written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate clear, persuasive and concise thoughts
- Sensitivity to survivors of homicide and abuse
- Ability to collect, synthesize, and process information quickly and with accuracy
- Sympathetic to the mission of the organization
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D)
- License to practice law in Alabama
- 2+ years of experience conducting jury trials and preliminary hearings
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation
