The Honorable Kandice Pickett is a native of Tuskegee, Alabama and has a B.S from the University of Alabama and a J.D from the University of Alabama School of Law.  For almost 15 years, prior to taking the bench, Judge Pickett served the State of Alabama as a deputy district attorney, alternating between the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Tuscaloosa County, AL) and the Tenth Judicial Circuit (Jefferson County, AL-Birmingham Division).  During her time as a deputy district attorney, Judge Pickett tried before a jury and litigated a variety of cases ranging from misdemeanor appeals to drug offenses, property crimes and violent felonies.  Throughout her career, Judge Pickett has advised and trained law enforcement on search and seizure law, trial preparation and case investigation and provided criminal law updates to community groups, attorneys, and judges within the state of Alabama.  Judge Pickett is a member of the Omicron Omega (Birmingham) Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an avid college sports fan (Roll Tide!) and an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
