About the Firm

We are a small, busy family law firm seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Law Clerk / Legal Support Staff member to join our team. Our practice focuses on family law matters, and we value professionalism, compassion, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit office, wants hands-on experience with family law, and takes pride in providing excellent support to attorneys and clients.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with day-to-day family law case management and administrative support
  • Prepare, organize, proofread, and format pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents
  • Assist with filing documents through applicable court e-filing systems
  • Maintain and organize electronic and paper case files
  • Monitor deadlines, court dates, hearings, and other important case events
  • Conduct basic legal and factual research as directed
  • Assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other professionals
  • Assist with client intake and gathering information and documentation
  • Prepare correspondence and routine case-related communications
  • Enter and maintain accurate information in the firm’s case-management system
  • Handle confidential and sensitive client information with discretion
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and the office as needed

Qualifications

  • Current law students or those with prior experience in a law office, legal support role, or related professional setting preferred, but not required for otherwise qualified candidates
  • Family law experience is a strong plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable communicating with clients who may be experiencing stressful or emotionally difficult circumstances
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common office technology
  • Ability to learn and effectively use legal research, e-filing, and case-management software
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Availability to work between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, in office, Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am to 12:00 noon Fridays.
