Solo attorney with a growing practice in Downtown Birmingham seeks motivated second or third year law student interested in gaining practice experience as a part time law clerk.

The law office is general practice, with a focus in areas of landlord- tenant, real estate disputes, collections and general litigation.

Assignments will include assistance drafting pleadings and transactional documents, completing electronic filing and physical filing in various courts, research statutory and case law applicable to varied practice areas, assistance preparing for court hearings and trials, file organization, data entry and other administrative duties.  There will be occasional opportunities for assistance in court and interaction with clients, attorneys, adverse parties and court staff.

The position offers a flexible work schedule which would require in-office presence, with occasional opportunities to complete assignments outside the office.  The position would require 8-12 hours of work per week, but this may vary dependent on workload. The individual will be paid on a bi-weekly basis.
