Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton, LLP, a premiere plaintiff’s law firm in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking an experienced paralegal for help in managing a busy litigation practice.
Requirements
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Drafting and filing legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and other legal memoranda in personal injury and wrongful death medical malpractice cases
- Managing discovery documents, answering interrogatories, and preparing responses to written discovery
- Interacting with clients
- Coordinate and summarize depositions
- Organize exhibits, document production, evidence, briefs, and appendices
- Access state and federal court systems electronically (e-filing, downloading documents, etc.)
- Assist with trial preparation
- Manage and coordinate administration of subrogation, Medicaid and Medicare liens
- Medical malpractice litigation experience preferred
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent litigation work experience (minimum 3 years)
- Experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, or other injury-related practice areas
- Self-starter and highly self-motivated, with proven ability to work with a team of people
- Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with clients, court, and counsel effectively
- Ability to think critically, conduct legal research and gather relevant information from a variety of sources
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
