Truman Fitzgerald was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. In July 2011, he joined the Birmingham Police Department. In December 2011, he graduated from the police academy and then was assigned to the East Precinct as a patrol officer. In July 2020, he joined the Public Information Division where he currently serves as a spokesperson for the Birmingham Police Department.

Becoming a police officer further fueled the love and passion he has for the study of Law. In April 2016, he received his Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He then fulfilled his dream of attending Birmingham School of Law where he graduated in August 2020. Truman was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in April 2021.

“I consider Birmingham School of Law one of the biggest blessings God has given me. Birmingham School of Law boosted my self-confidence, made me a better police officer, and prepared me for the Alabama Bar Exam and then life as a practicing attorney. To the students, faculty, and staff of Birmingham School of Law, thank you!” Truman says.
